The Standards Committee has accepted in principle the first domain extension proposed by a member organisation: commodity risk. The extension adds portfolio-level commodity risk governance to the SIGNET Canonical Data Model — positions, coverage corridors modelled as Agent-layer policy subtypes, price marks, assessments, scenarios, and the hedge proposals that bridge a risk decision back into the core Need → SourcingEvent → Contract process chain, without forking it.
The governance point matters as much as the technical one. This is the first extension put forward by a member, and it was reviewed under the identical process, terms, and bar that apply to any proposer — no preferential path exists for any member, founding or otherwise. The contribution is covered by the Corporate CLA, and the extension will be published CC0, matching the core.
The extension is a Working Draft on the standards track; its schemas, worked example, and conformance rules follow as a separate technical change. You can read the Working Draft spec and the Standards Committee review record in the open repository.
Update: the resubmission passed review, and the extension is now merged as a Working Draft — the required changes were satisfied and the technical artifacts (six schemas, ten codelists, an eleven-file worked example, and six conformance rules run in CI) have landed. See the Standards Committee record of resubmission and merge.
